About the Program

The B.S. in Industrial Engineering Technology provides a foundation in a variety of areas including advanced manufacturing, automation, workplace design, operations management, quality assurance, and project management. The program has core courses as well as electives that allow a student to focus on a specific area or industry sector. Industrial Engineering Technology majors develop engineering skills through both experiential and classroom learning opportunities. Students benefit from applied faculty members with extensive industry experience, and project based courses taking place in the NJIT Makerspace Graduates from the Industrial Engineering Technology program can go into careers as a facility manager, sales and distribution engineer, manufacturing engineer, maintenance engineer, industrial engineer, automation engineer, quality engineer, and safety engineer. New Jersey Institute of Technology is located near Manhattan, in the middle of a large industrial area that offers excellent opportunities to highly qualified professionals. 

The rapid recent expansion of modern industries has opened new areas of employment for   NJIT’s graduates.

The Industrial Engineering Technology program is a full four-year curriculum, which also provides an opportunity for transfer students with A.A.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering Technology to complete their baccalaureate degree.  In the case of all students, both four-year and transfer, a minimum of 120 credits is required for graduation.

Student Chapter of the Associated Construction Contractors of NJ

The Student Chapter of the Associated Construction Contractors of NJ. is the student organization of the Construction Engineering Technology and Construction Management Technology programs. The chapter, which is affiliated with the New Jersey Building Contractors Association (NBCA) and the National Association of General Contractors (AC). The chapter has participated in a wide range of construction industry related activities such as Habitat for Humanity, the ASCE Concrete Canoe race and the AGC National Estimating competition.

The current advisor to the Student Society of Construction Contractors is Melissa Valoura, Construction Engineering Technology, Department of Engineering Technology, room 207 Fenster Hall, 973.596.4158, melissa.valoura@njit.edu.

ACI Student Chapter

The American Concrete Institute Student Chapter is the student organization of the Concrete Industry Management Technology program. This chapter is affiliated with the New Jersey American Concrete Institute (NJACI). The mission of the ACI-NJIT Student Chapter is to promote interest in concrete at NJIT and to increase the awareness of current trends, committees, and research in the concrete industry. Free writing tutoring is now available. Make an appointment with Ms. Janet Bodner: bodner@njit.edu (Cullimore Hall 423, 973.596.5725) This service is provided by the Department of Humanities.  It is not proofreading, but rather one-on-one tutoring for organization, grammar, documentation, and other aspects of your paper. Online tutoring is also available.

It is customary and often necessary for engineering students to need assistance with their papers.  Schedule help early and avoid a possibly disappointing grade.
