A student will receive an "F" in any SAET course if they accumulate three (3) weeks of unexcused absences prior to the "Last Day to Withdraw from Classes", as published on the NJIT Registrar’s website.
A week is defined as the period in which the reported contact hours are completed. Typically:
Night courses: One (1) course meeting per week.
Daytime courses: Two (2) course meetings per week.
Please note:
Arriving twenty (20) minutes or more late to any course meeting is recorded as an absence for that meeting.
Leaving twenty (20) minutes or more early from any course meeting is recorded as an absence for that meeting.
Instructor Late Policy
Instructors must notify the class within ten (10) minutes of the scheduled start time if they will be arriving late. If no notification is provided within this ten (10) minute window, students may leave without penalty. Students should then inform the department of the situation.
Assessment Open‑Book Policy
Exams, quizzes, and tests may not be administered as open‑book. This restriction applies to both electronic and printed materials. Any course seeking an exemption to this policy must obtain approval from the Director of SAET.
