The School of Applied Engineering and Technology, a unit of NJIT’s Newark College of Engineering, educates students to become technical and thought leaders. These leaders will be able to offer informed, purposeful, efficient and economical solutions to complex tasks that require knowledge and application of technology and engineering.
To achieve this goal, SAET develops and implements hands-on, reality-based educational programs informed by industrial practices and applications. SAET also expands the State-of-the Art in the areas of pedagogy, knowledge acquisition and skill improvement – within the discipline of Engineering Education.
SAET works with industry, government and New Jersey’s Community Colleges to increase reach and opportunities to new target audiences. Among these opportunities are Makerspace experience, cooperative education, internships, and apprenticeships.
The instructional staff of SAET enhances its abilities and the abilities of its students by engaging in applied research within the disciplines of engineering, engineering technology, and engineering education, and by building and maintaining infrastructure that supports experiential learning, industrial focus, and intellectual growth.
